Event Nov 19 2006 - Global Warming impact on the Northeast

The Northeast is already experiencing rising temperatures consistent with global warming, and dramatic warming is expected later this century. The choices we make today have the potential to preserve much of the Northeast's natural, economic, and social character. Massachusetts Climate Action Network (MCAN) is hosting a day-long event on November 19 highlighting what you, your town, city, state, company, or university can do about global warming.

The event features workshops on:
the science and impacts of global warming;
skills for global warming activists;

local action to cut greenhouse gas emissions;
technologies including renewable energy and carbon capture/storage; and
global warming policy at the city, state, regional, and international level.

Dr. Peter Frumhoff, director and senior scientist of the Union of Concerned Scientists’ Global Environment Program, will be speaking on the recently released report on global warming impacts on the Northeast.

When: Sunday, November 19, 2006, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Where: MIT’s Stata Center; 32 Vassar Street, Cambridge, MA
