We offered UCS supporters and other Americans the chance to bring this issue into the spotlight by lampooning political interference in science through Science Idol: The Scientific Integrity Editorial Cartoon Contest. Artists throughout the United States took the challenge and submitted hundreds of entries. And four celebrity judges helped UCS narrow those entries down to 12 finalists.

Now it's up to you to choose the winner—vote now!
At the end of July, the cartoonist with the most votes will win the grand prize—including a cash award and a trip to Washington, D.C., to have lunch with Washington Post editorial cartoonist
Tom Toles.

But the prizes aren't just limited to the cartoonists. We’ll award a 2008 Defending Science calendar featuring the work of our top 12 finalists to 50 lucky voters. Tell your friends to give them the opportunity to win, too—if five of your friends vote, you could win a limited edition t-shirt featuring the winning cartoon!

Voting will close on Monday, July 23, 2007, at 11:59 p.m. EST and we'll announce our grand prize winner later that week. You can only vote once, so choose carefully—vote today!
Sincerely,
