Help save penguins today - donate!!!!! to the Defenders of Wildlife

Antarctic penguins are disappearing rapidly as global warming destroys their habitat -- penguin numbers have dropped by as much as 80% in some areas. Yet some in Congress still refuse to support common-sense global warming solutions or a clean energy policy to protect our natural treasures. Support our work to hold these lawmakers accountable…
Make a Difference for Penguins

Penguins are losing vital habitat to global warming caused by carbon emissions from fossil fuels… all while some in Congress refuse to act and continue to rake in thousands of dollars in campaign cash from Big Oil and other polluting industries.

Pop quiz: When it comes to protecting penguins and other wildlife from the harmful effects of global warming, who should Congress be listening to?

A: The American Public
B: Scientists
C: Big Oil

Most Americans would say "A" or "B". But if you're one one of the 5 out-of-touch Congressmen that Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund is turning a spotlight on with our new Heads in the Sand Campaign, you're probably listening to Big Oil and its high-paid lobbyists. Despite the urgency of global warming, these Members of Congress have marched lock-step with their Big Oil benefactors as our wildlife pays the price.

Help support our work to hold these officials accountable for their inaction on one of the most important issues of our time. Your donation will help us keep our radio ads on the air, educate the public and work for meaningful solutions to global warming.

Representatives Ken Calvert (CA), John Doolittle (CA), Dean Heller (NV), Steve Pearce (NM) and Rick Renzi (AZ) have all opposed meaningful action on global warming, bent to the wishes of oil companies that want more dirty drilling and voted for billions in subsidies for Big Oil -- all the while, raking in thousands of dollars in campaign cash from oil and gas interests.

Big Oil continues to fund junk science that claims global warming isn't happening. They continue push for more harmful drilling and fight meaningful policy solutions to address global warming. And they continue to line the pockets of Congressmen like these who will toe their line on Capitol Hill.

These lawmakers are selling out our wildlife in favor of even bigger profits for Big Oil. Help us hold them accountable by supporting this campaign.

Penguin populations have decreased by nearly 80 percent in some areas, and the majority of scientists agree that rising temperatures due to climate change is the primary culprit. The North Carolina home of the world’s only remaining red wolves is threatened by rising sea levels caused by global warming. And polar bears are drowning or even resorting to cannibalism as the early effects of global warming rob them of needed habitat and they struggle to find enough to eat.

That’s just the tip of the iceberg. According to scientists, climate change could doom more than a million species to extinction by 2050.

To tackle this problem, we need responsible leadership in Washington -- not the reckless rhetoric, inaction and ignorance of the head-in-the-sand politicians we’re spotlighting with this campaign.

That’s why, starting today, we’re running ads on local radio stations in each of these lawmakers Congressional Districts. That’s why we’ve launched a new website, http://action.defenders.org/site/R?i=u8kdwXAIT--NhJqei31w9g.., to help urge their constituents to hold them accountable.
And that’s why we need your help today.

Please help us raise the $35,000 we need by June 30th to get this campaign off the ground and help support real solutions to protect our wildlife from the harmful effects of global warming. Donate today…

Big Oil already has a voice on Capitol Hill. Will you help Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund speak up for penguins, polar bears and other wildlife affected by global warming?
